Working in Cyprus
EU citizens may work in Cyprus without restrictions. Non-Cypriots who are not EU citizens are required to obtain a work permit from the Ministry of Labour.
Permanent Residency
EU citizens simply complete an application form from the local immigration office for a residence permit.
Non-EU citizens should submit their application to the local immigration office with the following documentation which will varify proof that they and their family are self-supported.
- Passport
- Three photos
- A copy of the sale/rental agrement
- Proof of pension or income
Health Care
The national health care in Cyprus is very low and all EU citizens are entitled to health care.
Many private doctors, who have completed their studies in the UK have their own practises and the charge is £10.00 CYP per consultation.
Private health care Insurance plans are also readily available and are catered to suite the individuals need and budget.
Education
Cyprus boasts a high level of public education, but each town has at least one private school many from primary level. The cost is low when compared to UK fees and the level is very high. As a comparison, one of the schools in Larnaca charges £1980 per year for year 1 with an increase each year. School uniforms and books are extra.
Banks
Based on British standards, the banking system is equipped with the latest technilogy. All banks have many branches in each town, with stratigicaly places atm machines. Opening a bank account is simple and both EU and non-EU citizens can open accounts here.
